The Former Griffith Barracks (now Griffith College) is a Protected Structure RPS Reg. Ref. 1846. The proposed development at Griffith College, South Circular Road, Dublin 8 (RPS Reg. Ref. No. 1846) comprises four main elements: • Removal of existing Portacabins in the Quad and construction of a new four storey building which will integrate with the Arthur Griffith Building and Daniel O'Connell Buildings via an atrium including classrooms, lecture rooms, offices, plant rooms, storage, breakout spaces, 5,207 sqm in size including 332 sqm in renovation of the existing building. Interventions to the protected structure including new openings and internal renovation of the existing building. • Demolition of the building known as 'The Photography Studio' and construction of a part 4 and 5 storey over basement 'Teaching and Learning' building including a gym, changing areas, exhibition / event space, terrace at fourth and fifth floor level, classrooms, lecture rooms, offices, plant rooms, storage, breakout spaces, 4,619 sqm in size with associated landscaping including the partial demolition of existing stone wall & railings. • Three storey extension to the west of the 'Quarter Master's House', facing South Circular Road, to provide multi-use space for educational use the College along with internal refurbishment of the Quartermaster House 391 sqm in size including removing of existing lean-to extension, with associated siteworks. • Single storey extension of the existing 'Bunker' building to provide design studio/teaching space 805 sqm in size accessed via the Quad, with basement extension, external walkway and colonnades. • The development will also include reconfiguration and improvement of campus pedestrian and vehicular circulation, landscaping, reconfiguration of car parking, 600 No. new cycle parking spaces, upgrade and reconfiguration of the existing Quad open space to provide multifunctional space, new open space adjacent to the Cavalry Buildings, excavations, foundations, extension of waste management area, new ESB substation, infrastructure, green roofs, and all ancillary works.

PROTECTED STRUCTURE : The development will consist of two no. signage panels relating to the applicant's dental business and signage relating to the street number of the property . The first signage panel is to be fixed above the existing ground floor window on the south elevation of no 2 South Circular Road . The panel will be wall mounted with a powder coated finish and lazer cut lettering . This panel will be flanked by two pin mounted powder coated numbers which will denote the street number of the property . The numbers are to be positioned at the east and west ends of the south elevation . The second signage panel is to be located in the garden area at the east side of the property between the south elevation of the main building and the south boundary of the site . The panel will consist of a single panel mounted on two painted metal posts . The signage panel will be powder coated with lazer cut signage and will display information relating to the applicant's dental practice on each side.
