RED III Application - A notice has been given under paragraph (a) of section 34D of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended). Permission for a 10-year planning permission for development at this site within the townlands of Ballykeerogemore, Ballykeerogebeg, Knockea and Garryduff, County Wexford. The development will consist of the construction of a solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage system development on a 141.03 hectare site consisting of: a) Ground-mounted solar pv panel arrays on fixed frames with string inverters b) 36 no. electrical transformer and inverter skid units on stoned hardstand areas c) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) compound consisting of 32 no. BESS modules, 4 no. MV Skid units, 1 No. transformer unit, 1 no. control unit, and 1 no. spares container d) 2.6 m high security fence around the BESS compound e) 2.2 m high acoustic barrier around 3 sides of the BESS compound f) 6 no. temporary construction compounds g) 2.4 m high security fencing around the perimeter of the site h) Pole-mounted security cameras i) Upgrade of 4 no. existing site entrances j) Extinguishing of 3 no. existing site entrances k) 4 no. new permanent site entrances l) 2 no. temporary construction site entrances m) Upgrading and widening of existing access tracks n) New access tracks o) Electrical and communications cabling within private lands and within the L-8124, L-4031 and L-8079 public roads p) All associated ancillary development, landscaping and reinstatement works. The operational lifespan of the development will be 40-years from the date of commissioning. A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will accompany the planning application. This development is covered by the provisions of the Renewable Energy Directive III (Directive (EU) 2023/2413) and it is important to note that the planning application may be subject to section 34D of the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended. When a notice issues in accordance with section 34D(b), the provisions of article 26A of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 to 2025 shall apply.
