Planning applications in Ferns

RED III Application Permission for a solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in the townland of Lodgewood, Ferns, Co Wexford. The proposed development comprises a c. 3MW solar energy development within a site area of approximately 5.8 hectares. The development will comprise of the following main elements: A ground mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) array comprising panels mounted on metal frames, together with associated inverters, transformer station, internal electrical and communications cabling, storage container, CCTV, perimeter and fencing; Short section of internal access track (circa 14m) extending from the permitted entrance and access road associated with the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) development to the south (Planning Ref. 20241558) to an operational compound area (circa 570m2) located in the south eastern portion of the site; A grid connection within the townland of Lodgewood, comprising of approximately 425m of underground cabling extending from the proposed solar PV facility to the high-voltage electrical compound associated with the permitted Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) development (Planning Ref. 20241558), providing connection to the existing 110/220 kV Lodgewood Substation; jk Use of the temporary construction compound permitted under Planning Ref. 20241558, which will be shared by both developments during the construction phase; and All associated drainage and ancillary works required to facilitate the development. A Natura Impact Statement will be submitted to the Planning Authority with the application. A 5 year permission and a 25 year operational period is sought for this planning application. This development is covered by the provisions of the Renewable Energy Directive III (Directive (EU) 2023/2413) and it is important to note that the planning application may be subject to section 34D of the Planning and Development Act, as amended. When a notice issues in accordance with section 34D(b), the provisions of article 26A of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 to 2025 shall apply
