Proposal description

Permission for development consisting of the upgrade of the existing Castlerea (Longford Springs) Water Treatment Plant (WTP). As part of the works, it is proposed to improve the treatment performance and operational reliability of the existing Castlerea WTP. Upgrade works at the Castlerea WTP shall consist of the following: • Raw Water Intake and Storage Works, including: • Replacement of the existing raw water sump and associated pumping equipment. • Raw water storage tank • Water Treatment Works, including: • Construction of a new treatment building housing two treatment streams comprising adsorption clarification and filtration processes. • Chemical Treatment Works, including: • Coagulant dosing systems. • Chlorine dosing systems. • Polymer dosing systems. • Treated Water Storage and Transfer Works, including: • Construction of a new clear water tank. • Provision of a high lift pump station building/kiosk, including pumping equipment and space for chemical mixing and dosing systems. • Modification of the existing washwater system. • Decommissioning Works, including: • Existing raw water intake sump and pumping station • Existing flash mixing tank • Existing flocculation tanks. • Existing filtered water tank. • Existing chemical treatment container. • Ancillary Site Works, including general groundworks, site clearance, drainage works, ducting, pipework, chambers, internal site roadways / hardstanding areas, fencing and landscaping at
