Proposal description

Carrickamore Quarries Ltd. intend to apply for permission for development at Cargaghmore, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. The development will consist of: • Continuation of works and use of the existing operational quarry, as permitted under Plan File Ref. No. 06/1469, for the extraction of rock, primarily using blasting with subsequent processing (crushing and screening); • Extraction within the existing permitted quarry area to include a reduced portion of the permitted northern extraction area to a final quarry floor level of approximately 160m OD, together with lateral extension and deepening of the quarry to the south/southwest to a final quarry floor level of approximately 127m OD; • Installation of additional settlement lagoons; • Relocation of the authorised discharge point; • Renewal and upgrades to existing plant; • Installation and operation of a modular, semi-mobile washing plant for the processing and refinement of aggregates; • Importation, processing and storage of c. 10,000 tonnes per annum of imported uncontaminated non-waste soils and stones (Article 27) for aggregates production, berm construction and site restoration; • Importation, processing and storage pending despatch of c. 5,000 tonnes per annum of bituminous materials (Article 27 by-product and/or Article 28 end-of-waste materials) for aggregates production, including blending with site-won aggregates; • Continued use and partial relocation of the existing authorised end of waste facility (WFP_MN_24_003_01), including the materials storage and recycling area permitted under Plan File Ref. No. 24/60058, processing in accordance with the applicable End-of-Waste criteria and end-product storage; • Increase in the quantity of imported inert construction and demolition waste materials from 24,500 tonnes per annum to 49,750 tonnes per annum in accordance with a revision of 24/60058, to partially relocate and increase in tonnages. This is to operate under a Waste Facility Permit in accordance with Waste Management (Facility Permit and Registration) Regulations 2007 (S.I. No. 821 of 2007); • Installation of an electricity substation and associated three-phase electrical infrastructure to partially replace the current generator supply, with a period of 10 years from the date of grant sought for commencement of this element of the Proposed Development; • Continued use of all existing site infrastructure, including the site access, site office, wastewater treatment sys
