Planning Permission is being sought by Sophia Housing Association CLG at Saint John of God Convent, College Road, Kilkenny, Protected Structure (RPS Reg number B23). The area of the existing floor is Ground Floor = 593.4m², First Floor = 531.4m², & Second Floor = 538.6m². The development will consist of the following and all associated site works and services: • Change of use of the existing Presentation Convent over 3 floors to 14 no. apartments comprising of the following: o 7 no. 1 bedroom 2-person apartments. o 2 no. 2 bedroom 3-person apartments. o 1 no. 2 bedroom 4-person apartment. o 2 no. 3 bedroom 5-person apartments. o 2 no. 3 bedroom 6-person apartments. • Refurbishment of existing Timber sliding sash windows and replacement of existing P.V.C windows & doors with new timber sliding sash windows. • Relocation of existing stained-glass windows to the existing window openings in the Northwest & Southwest Elevation. • Demolition of the existing single storey extension to the side of the building. • Construction of new smoke vents to the existing roof. • Upgrading of the existing First & Second floors & Second floor ceilings to fire rated floors & ceiling. • Construction of a new internal stairs serving first & second floors. • Construction of new dwelling unit bin stores & communal bin store. • Construction of steps and ramps to the main entrance and to the side of the existing building. • Demolition of the existing external fire escape stairs. • Additional car parking adjacent to the buildings main entrance & rear car parking area. • Construction of new pedestrian links in the boundary walls for access to the existing graveyard & replacement of the existing railing surrounding the graveyard wall with new masonry wall. • New vehicular & pedestrian entrance onto College Road. • Construction of 8 no. new semi-detached & terraced dwellings (gross floor area = 632.4m²) comprising of the following: o 7 no. 2 bedroom 4-person 2 story dwellings. o 1 no. 1 bedroom 2-person single storey dwelling. • Construction of new site boundaries. • Connection to existing services and all associated site development works.
