Proposal description

• Construction of two new sheds and yards for the storage of waste materials; • Construction of a workshop shed to support maintenance and operations; • Provision of a welfare facility including a canteen, toilet and office building, along with the installation of a septic tank and percolation area; • Provision of a Security Kiosk at the site entrance; Other onsite facilities includes: o Wheelwash area; o Weighbridge, Inspection and quarantine area; o Proposed Storage yard; and o Fencing, lighting, upgrade of existing access roadway and hardcore area, drainage, pipework including gully’s, sediment traps and hydrocarbon interceptor and all other ancillary works. o Trimming of hedgerows and the removal of c. 55metres of hedgerow along the eastern side of the road to the north of the site entrance and replacement with new hedgerow or timber fencing to provide adequate sightline. The principal activities associated with the proposed development are;• Change of use of the existing agricultural shed into a waste processing building; • An annual intake of up to 25,000 tonnes of Construction & Demolition (C&D), Green and inert waste; Processing of C&D, Green and inert wastes including: o Crushing and recycling of concrete and bricks into secondary aggregates; o Screening and cleaning of soil & stones for reuse; o Separation of Metals & Woods for reuse or recycling; and o shredding and storage for composting of green waste for reuse and recycling. Part of the operational phase of the proposed project includes the reuse of the processed C&D, green and inert wastes which will be hauled off site by HGV to their destination. The proposed development includes activities that will require a Waste Facility Permit from the Local Authority under the Waste Management (Facility Permit and Registration) Regulations 2007 (as amended)
