Submission No. 4023893 - The proposed development relates to partial demolition, material alteration, and extension works to existing buildings at Gort Ard House, Rockbarton North, Salthill, Co Galway. Since the 1960s, this complex has provided student accommodation, living accommodation for staff and management, a place of worship (Oratory), and other supporting uses. The principal building (Gort Ard House) is a protected Structure (RPS8701) and multiple existing extensions to the rear are to be carefully demolished and/or materially altered in the works. With the contemporary landscaping and extension works designed to improve accessibility issues experienced by users in the current complex. Upon completion, the building’s gross floor area will increase from c805m2 to c1265m2. The current 5no student and 5no staff bedrooms shall also increase to 16no student and 4no staff/guest bedrooms. A new oratory, multipurpose room, and other ancillary spaces will also be provided.
