Why this application matters
Phase 1 scope
The 15.11-hectare first phase would relocate four existing South Apron occupiers into replacement Eastlands facilities: an An Post storage and sorting building, Border Inspection Post, Revenue office and airport mortuary.
Cargo development land
The scheme would service three future bellyhold-cargo plots, each about 159.5m by 120m, with 38kV substations and utility connections. It also safeguards a separate plot for a future screening and logistics facility.
Airport connection
A fully bonded airside bridge across the R132 would link Eastlands to the South Apron, while a new left-in/left-out R132 junction would provide landside access.
Operational infrastructure
Proposed works include HGV staging, internal roads, walking and cycling routes, shared parking, drainage and landscaping. The replacement buildings would incorporate roof-mounted solar photovoltaic panels.
