Why this application matters

Office-to-hostel reuse

The vacant office building at 1–3 High Street would be converted across lower-ground to fourth-floor levels into a 35-bedroom tourist hostel of approximately 1,852 sq m, with 224 bedspaces.

Rear residential extension

A new three- to four-storey rear extension of approximately 570 sq m would provide four two-bedroom apartments, each with a private balcony.

Separate access and facilities

Hostel access would remain from High Street, while the apartments would have separate lower-ground access from St. Michael’s Close. The scheme includes 31 cycle spaces in total, green roofs and photovoltaic panels.
