20. The Developer shall comply with the following Conservation requirements of the Planning Authority: k) The following items should be submitted for the written approval of the planning authority in advance of the works commencing: ix. The use of standard double-glazed units is not permitted as they are considered too bulky for historic windows, or replicas of historic multi-pane windows. The installation of slim profiled (6mm-6.5mm) double-glazing may be considered where well-detailed, but only if they can be accommodated within the historic glazing bar profile. The new frames should have a traditional putty finish to the exterior. The introduction of new slim-profiled glazing, the panes of which are separated by shards of glass, giving a ''frittered'' effect, is not supported. The applicant shall be satisfied that any proposed slim-lite glass replacements conform to EU directives. Please note that in the case of the historic windows which retain historic glazing, new double-glazed units will not be permitted. These shall be repaired and refurbished only.
