Proposal description

Permission for works associated with the uprate of a section of the existing Clashavoon to Tarbert 220kV overhead line. The proposed development pertains to the length of existing overhead line between existing mast structure number 63 (south-east of the existing Knockanure 220 kV substation, Co.Kerry) to existing mast structure number 233 (north of the existing Ballyvouskill 220 kV substation Co. Cork) The overall length of this section of overhead line is approximately 60.4km. of which 21.2km is located in County Cork and 39.2km is located in County Kerry. The proposed development works in County Cork, between the Cork-Kerry boundary north-west of mast structure 173 and mast structure number 233, comprise of alterations to a total of 61 existing mast structures including foundation upgrade works and restringing of existing overhead line with new conductor. The proposed development works also include all associated and ancillary development including works comprising or relating to permanent and temporary construction and excavation, including clearance of vegetation at various locations along the route to facilitate the proposed principle development.
