Why this application matters

Homes and community facilities

The scheme provides 300 homes: 128 houses and 172 apartment or duplex units. Housing ranges from one- to four-bedroom homes, and includes two homes within a restored vernacular farm building, alongside a two-storey creche.

Layout and built form

Twenty apartment and duplex buildings are proposed, at three to four storeys over basement level. Existing agricultural buildings would be demolished, while the vernacular farm building would be retained and restored for residential use.

Access and connections

Vehicle access would use the existing Killumney Road junction serving Heathfield, while the Maglin Sustainable Access Corridor would be extended. Four pedestrian and cycle links are proposed to the Heathfield development, together with a clear-span bridge across the Maglin North River.

Site infrastructure

Works include active-travel infrastructure, landscaping, bicycle and bin facilities, a temporary pumping station, and diversion and undergrounding of the 38kV overhead electricity line crossing the site.
