Permission for a new railway station with local park and ride at the Iarnrod Eireann Maintenance Yard, Dublin Hill Road Middle, kilbarry, Cork. The proposed development is for the site clearance and construction of a new railway station comprising the following: 120-metre station platforms either side of the existing railway line, compriisng shelters, seating, bins, lighting, CCTV, railings, speakers for public address, customer information signs, directional and station signage; Lifts and stairs on the platforms connecting to an enclosed pedestrian railway overbridge 15.5m long x 3.0m wide x 2.6m minimum enclosed height. The lift shaft rises to 11.507m in height above adjacent carpark level. A station storage area is to be provided beneath the stairs; Ticket vending machines and validation poles; A local park and ride facility with 83 vehicle parking spaces comprising: 63 general, 5 disabled, 3 age friendly, 8 E charging, 4 motorbike spaces and 59 bicycle parking spaces comprising 44 covered bicycle stands, 15 bicycle lockers including 3 e-charge lockers. It also includes pedestrian footpaths, directional signage, landscaping, seating and a set-down area for bus, car and taxi; Upgrades to the existing entrance on Dublin Hill Road Middle which include an enhanced entrance including new gates, reduced entrance width from 10m to 8m and re-configuration and reconstruction of the existing entrance stone walls (not a protected structure) that will be set back by a distance of approximately 3.6m at a skew angle; Road upgrades on Dublin Hill Road Middle composed of a table-top arrangement at the upgraded vehicular entrance to the Station and a signalised pedestrian crossing; An additional 3m wide gated pedestrian entrance as part of the reconstructed stone boundary wall connecting to the proposed signalised crossing on Dublin Hill Road Middle and connecting to the existing modified bus stop (no. 243531) proposed to be relocated approximately 20m south; A universal access pedestrian entrance on Redforge Road composed of a dual lift shaft structure of reinforced concrete and glazing, 5.3m wide x 3.2m deep x 21.02m high above adjacent pavement level. A pedestrian bridge, 19.3m long x 3.0m wide with 3.3m high covered access area for the lifts will link to the main station area. An intermediate bridge, 10.7m long x 3.0m wide is also provided with similar 3.3m high covered access and connection to the proposed stairway for emergency access purposes; A 3.2m high covered area at the lift shaft entrance on Redforge Road above that adjacent paved area accessible via a proposed 43.0m long x 2.5m wide footpath along the north-eastern boundary of Redforge Road. This area will include lighting and CCTV; Retaining walls at the rear and sides of the lift entrance area; A 2.1m wide zig-zag stairway configuration comprised of in-situ concrete steps extending up the existing embankment with lighting, CCTV and landscaping; Two signalised pedestrian crossings at the T-junction (northern and southern arms) between Redforge Road and Brothers Delaney Road providing access to the lifts and stairs/station entrance on Redforge Road; A proposed 225mm surface water carrier pipe extending on Dublin Hill Road Middle southwards and a connection to the existing surface drainage network at the junction of Dublin Hill Road Lower and Redforge Road; Connection to existing foul, electricity and water infrastructure; An uncovered bin storage area 5.5m wide x 4.0m deep; Relocation and reconfiguration of the existing IÉ maintenance compound to the rear of the site, including security fencing, landscaping and two 6.0m wide gated vehicular entrances off the proposed local park and ride area; A 12m long x 4.7m wide x 4.7m high station services building; An IÉ maintenance entrance gate 9.0m wide located to the south of the site to maintain existing maintenance and emergency access to the Cork Tunnel; Permission for mobile commercial units (van / truck) to operate on the site as an ancillary use to the station; And all other associated site and development works.
